Connecticut Preschool Assessment Framework

Our preschool curriculum is based off of the Connecticut Preschool Assessment Framework. The framework allows us to create experience plans that assess and develop children physically, cognitively, socially, emotionally, and creatively. We are able to engage children in activities that fit their developmental level using the program’s performance standards and benchmarks.

Handwriting Without Tears

We use Handwriting Without Tears (the Get Set for School, the PreK curriculum) to aid in the development of fine motor control, math skills, and literacy development. We use music, wood pieces to create letters and shapes, play dough, and stamping to implement the program. This program allows children to learn naturally through play.

Conscious Discipline

Conscious Discipline, developed by Dr. Becky Bailey, is a method of regulating one’s own emotions. As adults we use it to teach ourselves that we must be in control of our own emotions in order to help a child through a tough moment. It is used in our curriculum to empower children by teaching them to control their emotions when interacting with others.

Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards

Our preschool curriculum is based on the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards. Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards were developed to help families, communities and schools work together to support children’s early learning and growth. The Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards are organized by domain. There are eight domains in the document:

  • Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Health and Development
  • Language and Literacy
  • Creative Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Cognition
  • Social Studies

Our preschool staff provide daily learning experiences that include the above listed domains.
